UNFIT is a new facility that allows crew to claim fatigue entirely not related to the roster. UNFIT claims are identified in AIMS as UNFT – a new code.
UNFT has been specifically designed to deal with situations where a crewmember is suffering from fatigue that is caused by non-roster related factors. For example, lack of sleep due to a crying child. It does not affect any other absence code and cannot be used for any other reason other than non-roster related fatigue.
The process for claiming UNFIT is very similar to that already in use to claim FTGD/FTGO. If you feel unable to work your duty due to non-roster related fatigue, please call Crewing to advise them you are UNFIT. You will be removed from the roster for that day only and your roster will be annotated UNFT. You must then submit a Fatigue Report Form (FRF) to FRMS within 48 hours. You must always give Crewing sufficient time to replace you with standby coverage.
No. By definition, UNFT is not generated by roster related fatigue. Therefore, you need to declare UNFIT prior to attending work. Any subsequent offload will be annotated as FTGO or sick offload.
No, UNFT cannot be claimed in advance.. For any longer term or systemic issues, please discuss this with your line manager.
Like FTGD, UNFT can only be claimed for a single day. Any longer term condition should be discussed with your line manager. Longer term fatigue is treated as a medical condition and annotated as sickness in AIMS thereby allowing more personal and appropriate support to be provided.
Yes, UNFT is subject to the absence management policy and is administered by the local Base Management teams.. UNFT is managed under ‘conduct’ which means the trend and frequency of claims are monitored and, all claims are treated individually fraudulent claims and/or misuse of the system can lead to disciplinary action being taken.
Yes, this is paid as we currently pay as FTGD/FTGO.
UNFT claims are administered and controlled by the local management and occasions will be followed up on an individual basis.
